Religion

Prayers
Goal Grades
By the end of the year can recite these prayers: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Angel of God, Sign of the Cross, the Apostles' Creed, and Hail Holy Queen (test only for prayers learned so far in the classroom)
  • E - Can recite all prayers clearly, without any help
  • S - Can recite with little help
  • N - Can't recite at all, or only a little bit
Concepts
Goal Grades
Can recall all religion concepts taught during the quarter.
  • E - Can recall all concepts, or almost all
  • S - Demonstrated understanding, but was not able to answer all the questions
  • N - Does not understand concepts taught

Reading

Vocabulary Growth
Goal Grades
Able to use cues to decode new words and is increasing sight word vocabulary.
  • E - Can read all (or almost all) the words taught during the quarter
  • S - can read many of the words by sight
  • N - Cannot decode the words without help
Phonetic Concepts
Goal Grades
Use all phonetic concepts taught so far
  • E - Able to understand and applies all phonetic concepts taught so far
  • S - Able to understand phonetic concepts and usually applies them
  • N - does not understand the phonetic concepts taught so far
Reads with Understanding
Goal Grades
Able to comprehend the stories read by the students in class and can answer questions regarding content
  • E - Able to answer all questions, including higher level thinking
  • S - Able to answer all (or almost all) content questions
  • N - Not able to demonstrate an understanding
Reads Orally
Goal Grades
Able to read orally at current level being taught in the classroom with accuracy
  • E - Able to read stories fluently
  • S - Able to read stories, but needs to sound out some words
  • N - Spends too much time sounding out words and decoding
Reads Independently
Goal Grades
Able to read independently at the current level being taught in the classroom and answer questions verbally to show comprehension
  • E - Able to answer all comprehension questions correctly
  • S - Able to answer most questions correctly
  • N - Cannot prove the story was comprehended

Social Studies

Goal Grades
Able to remember the main ideas of different topics covered during the quarter.
  • E - Able to recall the main ideas of the different topics covered during the quarter
  • S - Able to recall most of the main ideas
  • N - Not able to express an understanding of the content covered

Science

Goal Grades
Able to remember the main ideas of the different topics covered during the quarter and demonstrates scientific reasoning skills
  • E - Able to recall the main ideas of the different topics covered during the year, and demonstrates scientific reasoning skills by asking higher level questions
  • S - Able to recall most of the main ideas and demonstrates scientific reasoning skills
  • N - Not able to express an understanding of the content covered

Writing

Applies Handwriting Skills
Goal Grades
Able to form letters correctly during handwriting class and all other subjects
  • E - Forms letters correctly in all subjects
  • S - Forms letters correctly during handwriting class and most other subjects
  • N - Needs work in forming letters correctly
Uses correct grammar/punctuation
Goal Grades
Uses correct grammar and punctuation (test only for skills learned so far)
  • E - Uses correct grammar and punctuation when writing, without needing any reminders
  • S - Understands grammar and punctuation, but does need some reminders when writing
  • N - Does not know correct grammar and punctuation
Composes and Writes Stores
Goal Grades
Able to compose and write stories using complete sentences and simple paragraphs by the end of the year
  • E - Can write an excellent story using skills already been taught in class
  • S - Can write a satisfactory story using skills already taught in class
  • N - Cannot write a simple story

Mathematics

Numbers
Goal Grades
Able to demonstrate an understanding of all number concepts taught during the quarter (such as reading numbers, counting, writing numbers, order and comparing numbers, place value, ordinal position, even/odd, and rounding)
  • E - Able to demonstrate the number concepts and fully understands the concept
  • S - Able to demonstrate the number concepts
  • N - Not able to demonstrate an understanding of concepts
Number Sets
Goal Grades
Can demonstrate a beginning understanding of finding the product of two equal sets of objects
  • E - Understands how multiplication works and can do simple multiplication equations
  • S - Can find teh product of two equal sets of objects
  • N - Cannot demosntrate an understanding of multiplication
Addition
Goal Grades
Able to answer addition equations (at the level taught so far)
  • E - Able to answer addition equations accurately and fluently
  • S - Able to answer addition problems accurately
  • N - Cannot answer addition problems accurately
Subtraction
Goal Grades
Able to answer subtraction equations (at the level taught so far)
  • E - Able to answer subtraction equations accurately and fluently

  • E - Able to complete fraction problems and fully understands the concept

Able to demonstrate measurement skills taught during the quarter (this includes: linear measurement, weight and mass, volume, perimeter and area, and money)
  • E - Able to demonstrate measurement skills and fully understands the concept
  • S - Able to demonstrate an understanding of the measurement concepts
  • N - Not able to demonstrate an understanding of measurement
Geometry

Spelling

Able to spell most fo the words on the spelling tests given during the quarter
  • E - Able to correctly spell 92% (or higher) of all words on the spelling test given during the quarter
  • S - Able to spell 82-91% of all spelling words correctly
  • N - Did not correctly spell over 81% of the spelling words

Foreign Language - Spanish

Able to remember the vocabulary taught during the quarter
  • E - Able to recall all vocabulary covered during the quarter
  • S - Can remember most of the vocabulary covered during the quarter
  • N - Not able to recall vocabulary learned
